East Midlands

Poet coach Roger Robinson is working with April’s Dawn, a creative education initiative in the East Midlands. Young people from across the region have been invited to take part in the first round of workshops, hoping to make the team and represent their region at the WORDCUP Weekend.

Roger Robinson

Roger Robinson is a poet, short fiction writer and lyricist who divides his time between New York, London and Trinidad. He has represented British writing worldwide with the British Council and independently. With over ten years experience of teaching in schools, theatres, universities and community centres, Roger is a highly experienced workshop facilitator. He has devised and coordinated children’s poetry workshops for organisations such as Schools Music Association, Creative Partnerships West, The Barbican Centre, The South Bank Centre, National Trust, Theatre Royal Stratford East and Apples & Snakes.

April Griffiths is a Community Trainer and Education Manager, supporting groups, organisations and individuals to build their capacity, ensuring that they reach their full potential.

Aprils Dawn aims to empower and improve the cultural awareness of its audience and to create sustainable communities whilst embracing cultural diversity.
